Incidental Music
Permission must be sought for copyrighted music used in the performance
of plays licensed by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. unless performance
rights have been cleared or the music has entered the public domain.
Although there is no central clearinghouse for music rights, information
and rights may often be obtained through ASCAP
(The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), BMI
(Broadcast Music, Inc.) or Warner
Chappell Music.
Music CDs as well as sheet music are available from the Play
Service for the following titles. Please note additional performance
fees as applicable. You are required to apply for a license
before you use any of the CDs or sheet music below that list per
performance fees. Those without per peformance fees do not
require a supplmentary production materials license for use with your production.
It is strongly recommended that you apply for a supplementary production materials
license after you have received a license to produce the associated
play. To apply for a supplementary materials license, use the Application for Nonprofessional Supplementary Production Materials
Performance Rights, and to purchase the CD or sheet music, use the links
below.
Music and/or sound effects for many DPS plays are also available
from Valentino
Production Music, Inc. Click on Sound
Effects for a list of these titles. For information on other sound
recordings, such as prerecorded text or rehearsal CDs, click on Other
Recordings. For information on projected images and video, visit our
