Incidental Music

Permission must be sought for copyrighted music used in the performance of plays licensed by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. unless performance rights have been cleared or the music has entered the public domain. Although there is no central clearinghouse for music rights, information and rights may often be obtained through ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) or Warner Chappell Music.

Sound designs, recorded music and sheet music are available from the Play Service for the following titles. Please note prices and additional performance fees as applicable. You are required to apply for a license before you use any of the optional recorded music or sheet music that list fees below.

Optional Supplementary Materials: You may apply for an optional supplementary production materials license simultaneously or after you apply for a performance license to produce the associated play. You may not apply for an optional materials license prior to this time. To apply for an optional materials license, use the Application for Nonprofessional Supplementary Production Materials Performance Rights, and to purchase the materials, use the links below. Shipping of the materials will occur after you have remitted payment to DPS.

Required Supplementary Materials: Required supplementary production materials, denoted by the phrase "required for production" below, will be automatically billed to you at the time your performance license for the associated play is issued. It is not necessary to order the materials separately or to apply for a supplementary materials license. Shipping of the materials will occur after you have remitted payment to DPS. Use of these materials is required for all productions.
