THE STORY: The story tells how an American soldier buys an Arab woman and how through the understanding and sympathy of this woman the Americans are enabled to take advantage of the enemy. There is another love story that runs throughout the play, and these two threads of plot bind together a work that reveals the fundamental simplicity and ultimate idealism o f the American fighting man.
