THE STORY: On a sleepy but utterly charming island about 30 minutes off the coast of Washington state, we find a town in a crisis: The whales have gone missing. Now the locals know tourism is their bread and butter, and to be clear, their town is more than just whales, but this mystery is a distressing turn of events. As the residents gather to figure out what to do, their fussy personality differences expose the fissures through the community, and the town's reckoning becomes a perfect comic crucible for what it means to remember, to be human, and to live.
