Colman Domingo is the author of the produced works Wild with Happy\n(Dramatists Play Service), A Boy and His Soul (Oberon Books), and Up\nJumped Springtime. The artistic work of Mr. Domingo has been honored with\nOlivier, Tony, Drama Desk, and Drama League nominations. His work has\nwon the Obie, Lucille Lortel, GLAAD, Connecticut Critics Circle, Bay Area\nTheatre Critics Circle, and Internet Theater Bloggers Awards. He has received\nfellowships and/or residencies from The Sundance Institute Theatre Lab,\nPeople's Light and Theatre Company, and the Banff Playwrights Colony.\nMr. Domingo is under commission from American Conservatory Theater,\nPeople's Light and Theatre Company, and Inner Voices. His plays have\nbeen produced at The Public Theater, the Vineyard Theatre, TheatreWorks,\nBaltimore Center Stage, the Tricycle Theatre (London), Brisbane Powerhouse\n/ World Theatre Festival (Australia), Theatre Rhinoceros, Lincoln Center\nTheater Directors Lab / American Living Room Festival / HERE, Thick\nDescription Theatre Collective, and American Conservatory Theater. Dot\nwas developed in part during a residency with New York Theatre Workshop.\nDot received its world premiere at the Humana Festival at Actors Theatre\nof Louisville and subsequently was produced Off-Broadway at the Vineyard\nTheatre, directed by Susan Stroman.\n

Mr. Domingo’s WILD WITH HAPPY received its world premiere Off-Broadway at The Public Theater under the direction of Robert O’Hara. WILD WITH HAPPY received developmental support from The Sundance Institute Theater Lab, Theatreworks, New York Theater Workshop, The Public Theater and The New Black Fest. It will receive productions at Theatreworks, Baltimore Centerstage and Syracuse Stage among others. He is the playwright of the 2010 Lucille Lortel (Best Solo Show), GLAAD Media Award (Best Theater Broadway or Off Broadway), and the Internet Theater Bloggers Award winning play A BOY AND HIS SOUL that garnered sold out runs for The Vineyard Theater, Joe’s Pub, The OMAI Festival for University of Wisconsin/Madison, Theater Development Fund and Thick Description in San Francisco. A BOY AND HIS SOUL was nominated for the Drama Desk, Drama League and Audelco Awards, and will receive productions at Philadelphia Theater Company and The Tricycle Theater in London. He has penned the plays UP JUMPED SPRINGTIME (Theater Rhinoceros Studio and Mainstage, “Best Solo Show” mention by The San Francisco Chronicle and Oakland Tribune), THE BIG IDEA (San Francisco Foundation commission) and MISSION OF A SAINT (Movement Theater Company). He has been an artist in residence/artistic fellow for The Sundance Institute Theater Lab, New York Theater Workshop, Thick Description Theater Collective and Hartford Stage Company. He is an OBIE, Connecticut Critics Circle, Bay Area Theater Critics Circle, and Dramalogue Award winning and Tony Award nominated actor that has starred on Broadway in THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, PASSING STRANGE, and CHICAGO. He has directed for Berkeley Rep, New Professional Theater, The Working Theater, Geva Theater, Campo Santo, Inquiline Theater, San Francisco Mime Troupe, All for One Festival, The Beat Festival and The Lincoln Center Director’s Lab/American Living Room Festival and workshops for the Roundabout Theater Company. Mr. Domingo is on faculty at The National Theater Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center and a recurring “Visiting Artist” with The University of Wisconsin, Madison Office of Muticultural Arts Initiative First Wave. Mr. Domingo is under commission from The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and People’s Light and Theater Company in Pennsylvania. Mr. Domingo is a Burian Lecture Fellow with The New York Writer’s Institute.
