Amy Freed wrote THE PSYCHIC LIFE OF SAVAGES (Joseph Kesselring Award and Washington D.C.'s Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play), which was also a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award. The play had an extended run in 1996 at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre. Other plays include FREEDOMLAND (finalist for the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Drama); THE BEARD OF AVON; the critically acclaimed STILL WARM and CLAUSTROPHILIA. She was a TCG-NEA Playwright-in-Residence at South Coast Repertory, where she developed THE COTTON MATHER STORY. Ms. Freed lives in San Francisco and currently teaches acting at Stanford University.
